Challenge
With the auto industry facing a downturn, this OEM supplier wanted to reduce
higher-than-expected energy bills at its plant. |
Perfection identified a lighting retrofit as a project with quick payback. The retrofit included replacing 323 400-watt metal halide lights with T5 high bay fixtures in the production area. These new fixtures use approximately half the wattage of the existing fixtures.
The project more than doubled light levels while using much less energy. The light levels went from 10–12
foot-candles to 25–30 foot-candles. The project reduced energy bills significantly, and the customer also received a $16,150 utility rebate from their electric provider. Energy savings amount to more than $40,000 each year, and the project will pay for itself in just over two years.
